Namaste!
I've been AWOL for a few months now, but trust me the guilt has officially taken over at this point!
As I'm stepping into my 3rd year of engineering this coming week, I want to make sure I set some goals for myself. I love setting little goals and seeing whether or not I will actually reach them in the time frame I give myself. So last year I told myself I want to be able to do a handstand by the year 2019. While I can do a handstand with wall support, I'm still not the happiest with my progress. That brings me to the goals I've been thinking of for myself this year, and hopefully I can make enough progress to be able to share with you guys!
Here are the few Asanas I want to get better at. I won't be sharing any pictures here because I don't have many, but I will take some along the way to note and share the progress!
Firstly, I just want to be able to push myself to practice at least 3 times a week, but sometimes that's just not going to happen because, well I'm lazy :P So I'm going to be honest and say 2 times. Discounting the weeks when I travel back home and need a break from college, and some exam days too. If you're a student, you understand how easy it is to make an excuse for everything but some physical activity.
Moving on to the real list :
1. Pincha
I have been fascinated by this pose ever since I learnt about all the cool Instagram Yoginis. I have tried practicing this pose for a whole year now and I have made minimal progress. Its just too hard for me to do! but that's what I love, its challenging and it has taught me so much about patience, technique, strength and flexibility! So its definitely something I want to master, and maybe take a cool few pictures too!
2. Handstands
Apparently handstands come naturally to everyone but me. Like I mentioned, I definitely can do a handstand against the wall, but I have not been able to train my body to hold it. Holding is such a crucial part of being able to understand the intent and full potential of any asana, and I'm still miles away from this one. I will probably dream for the rest of my life about doing a handstand steadily and without my dear friend, the wall!
3. Crane pose
Another arm balancing asana, I think its safe to say that im pretty bad at all arm balancing poses. However, this one I have seen a tonne of progress with in the past one month, thanks to my teachers! Definitely something I'm still working on every day at home and hope to continue working on in college!
4. Hip flexibility
I was never the kind of girl who could slide down into a split as a child, I envy those who could. Being able to do a centre-split will be the end of me. I struggle so much in this area even though I can do a side split. Hoping to see some improvement here too!
So these are the things off the top of my head and something I've been consciously working on this summer break. Hopefully in the next two weeks I'm able to get some pictures up showing the current state of all of these poses. The next week will be hectic, moving back into hostel, adjusting to classes and figuring out when to practice etc..

See you guys back here soon, hopefully!
Hey you! Very excited to see your progress this next year ✨
