4 Things Lockdown Taught Me

Namaste!

I'm sure every one of us have learnt something during this pandemic. I don't mean a new skill or a new course. I mean simple things, maybe about yourself, about your family, about your pets, even!

Here are some of the things I have learnt!

1. Patience is Key.

Thinking back on the strict lockdown period, I feel I could have potentially reacted to the forced stay-at home situation very differently. And I've understood I am a more patient person than I thought I was, mind you not everyone would call me patient, but hey it turns out I can be! Not having breakfast on time can really tick me off, but cooking is a TASK and I have so much appreciation for people who cook everyday, three times a day. Hats off to my grandma for never complaining, and always cooking for all of us!

2. Importance Of Doing Things You Love

I cannot even imagine what this period would've been like if I hadn't practiced Yoga, read books, helped out with cooking, gardening and sitting down everyday for some family time.

It can really eat you up if you don't know what to do with your time, now that we all have such an abundance of it on our hands!

Experimenting with different things has really helped me stay busy, most days I would actually lose track of time and each week went by rather quickly for me.

3. I Love Trying New Cuisines

I think something that has helped us stay sane and avoid the boredom is trying out different kinds of food. These past few months we've experimented and perfected some recipes that we absolutely love! I haven't done much baking, but I mean to try some exciting recipes soon! I tried a mango cake just today because a good friend suggested it and it is DIVINE! I've actually never had a mango cake that tastes of fresh mangoes and not mango essence, have you? If you have any yummy recipes I could try, please let me know!

4. Appreciating Small Things

All of us at home have become more interested in gardening, and we all have a set of plants we feel responsible for. I transplanted my little lime plant into a new pot, and it completely dried out! I didn't have the heart to give up on it, so I watered it everyday for about 2 weeks. Just when I was about to give up on it, I noticed tiny green leaves growing back! I was so stoked I can't explain! Small things like that really make me happy! I'm pleased to say my lime plant is thriving!

Let me know if you relate to any of these things, I would love to hear!
